Morse code looks like a wall of dots and dashes until one thing clicks: every letter is just a short rhythm, timed off a single unit — the length of a dit. Once that lands, the rest is practice. DitDash exists to make that practice concrete — real conversions, real timing, and real reference charts, instead of another article to read before you can try anything.

The site is built around a set of small, single-purpose tools. The Morse Code Translator converts text to Morse and back using the standard international code. The WPM & Farnsworth Timing Calculator works out dit, dah, and spacing lengths for a chosen character speed and Farnsworth effective speed — the way most people actually learn to copy code. The NATO Phonetic Alphabet tool spells out any text letter by letter for clear voice communication. The Semaphore Signal Reference covers the flag-signal numeral system and estimates how long a message takes to send. The Callsign Prefix Lookup checks a callsign’s format and matches its prefix to the country it’s allocated to. And the Amateur Radio Band Chart looks up which ham band a frequency falls in and converts frequency to wavelength.

A few things worth stating plainly. DitDash is independent and not affiliated with the ARRL, any national radio society, or any licensing authority. It is supported by advertising, which is how the tools stay free with no account required. The calculators apply standard, published conventions — the international Morse code table, the NATO phonetic alphabet, widely published amateur-radio band plans — but band edges, callsign rules, and licensing requirements vary by country and change over time, so always confirm anything that affects your license or your equipment with your national radio authority.
