Partnership Agreement to Foster Development of Competitive Software-Defined Vehicles

The world of commercial mobility is on the cusp of a significant transformation, with software-defined vehicles (SDVs) poised to revolutionize the logistics industry. At the forefront of this revolution are two Japanese giants, Isuzu Motors and Fujitsu, who have announced a groundbreaking partnership agreement to strengthen the development of competitive SDVs.

Strengthening the Development of Competitive SDVs

The partnership, which brings together the strengths of Isuzu’s commercial vehicles expertise and Fujitsu’s digital technology prowess, aims to address pressing issues in the logistics industry, such as improving efficiency and achieving carbon neutrality.

  • Software update systems
  • Fostering software talent
  • Improving development efficiency
  • Strengthening the development infrastructure

The partnership will enable the two companies to work together to develop innovative solutions for the logistics sector, leveraging their combined strengths to drive progress in the development of SDVs.

The GATEX Platform: A Catalyst for SDV Development

The partnership is built on the success of GATEX, a commercial vehicle information platform launched by Isuzu and Fujitsu in October 2022. This platform provides advanced operation management and support services, and has been adopted by Isuzu to power its unique solutions for approximately 570,000 commercial vehicles, such as the PREISM and MIMAMORI systems.

  1. Advanced genuine maintenance program PREISM
  2. Telematics system MIMAMORI

GATEX is more than just a platform – it’s a catalyst for SDV development, providing a robust foundation for the creation of innovative solutions that can drive efficiency and reduce emissions.

A Vision for the Future

According to Fujitsu, commercializing SDVs will enable the widespread adoption of advanced data utilization, leading to significant gains in transportation efficiency, streamlined logistics, and reduced CO2 emissions.

“Commercializing SDVs will allow for more sophisticated data utilization and lead to gains in transportation efficiency, streamlined logistics through enhanced visualization, and reduced CO2 emissions via optimized energy management for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCVs).”

This vision is set to become a reality thanks to the partnership between Isuzu and Fujitsu, which will strengthen GATEX as a leading data utilization platform for commercial SDVs.

A Key Element of Isuzu’s Innovation Effort

The partnership represents a key element of Isuzu’s 1 trillion yen investment in innovation, announced in May 2023.
